    Where to go in Tanzania for Safari

    Day 1.

    Arrival in Arusha

    Distance: 50 km

    Driving Time: 1 hour

    On arrival at Kilimanjaro international airport JRO meet our representative & transfer to Ilboru Safari Lodge or Mtoni River Lodge close to Arusha city for dinner & overnight. Later our safari manager will come for detailed briefing before leaving you to enjoy lodge’s facilities which includes big outdoor swimming pool.

     Day 2.

    Arusha – Tarangire National Park

    Distance: 139 km

    Non – game viewing time: 2 – 3 hrs.

    After breakfast at your lodge depart for Tangier National Park, the driving is along The Great Northern Highway across masai steppe & many villages all the way to the Park gate. Tarangire is the 5th largest National park in Tanzania endowed with beautiful landscapes & vegetation which include acacia woodland, fig trees, red mahogany & majestic baobab trees which dwarfing some animal species that cometh beneath it.

    Tarangire River the only permanent water source, giant baobab trees & huge elephant population are among the main features of this Park. You may also expect to spot herds of buffalo, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, warthog, baboons, monkey & the three rare species of Great Kudu, Fringed Eared Oryx & the Ash stalling. Lion, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs & leopard can also be seen in this park. For bird watcher there is the paradise with over 400 bird species both aquatic & terrestrial birds. Late afternoon drive to Sangaiwe Tented Lodge for dinner & overnight.

    Day 3.

    Game Drive at Lake Manyara – Lake Eyasi

    Distance: 50 km to Lake Manyara National Park – Time: 1 hour

    Distance: 65 km to Lake Eyasi

    Non – game viewing time: 2 – 3 hrs.

    After breakfast depart for Lake Manyara National Park & start game drive after check in. Lake Manyara National Park is placed at the dramatic location & it is endowed with a lot of underground streams which makes it green throughout the year. At the base of the Great East African Rift Valley the park has beautiful overlapping habitats hence sporting a large number of wildlife which include a high concentration of baboons found nowhere else in the world, beautiful flocks of flamingos, hippos, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra & many antelopes. Lake Manyara tree climbing lion is among beautiful features of this park.

    In the afternoon break for lunch in one of the picnic site inside the park. After lunch & some rest more game drive before starting your way to Lake Eyasi for Bushmen visit. Bushmen is a small ethnic group located at Northern Tanzania resembling those Bushmen in South Africa living in hunting & gathering of eggs, root tuber & herbs pretty much the same as people who lived during the stone Age. This tribe is divided into three clans of Tindiga, Hadzabe (hunters) & Datoga who are blacksmith.

    The driving is across The Great Rift Valley & along many villages, on arrival at Lake Eyasi you will visit Datoga tribe (the Blacksmith) who are also famous in weaving & making leather clothes, bags etc. You will have short walks around their village to learn much of their livelihood around this area. Then you will visit the blacksmith before sunset walk at the Lake shore. Late afternoon drive to Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge for dinner, campfire & overnight.

    Day 4.

    Lake Eyasi – Serengeti National Park

    Distance: 132 km

    Non – game viewing time: 3 – 4 hrs.

    On this day, we take you for an early morning hunting with Bushmen (Hadzabe) which will including tuition on survival skills. After you will return back to the lodge for full breakfast before starting your way to Serengeti National park, the driving is along beautiful high lying farm lands of Karatu and along the Crater rim of Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

    You will stop at the Crater view point for some nice picture of the crater floor from the rim. Then you will drive down into the heart of the “wild Africa” Serengeti National park with its endless rolling plains. On the way you will visit one of the Masai village for some cultural encounter, some Masai worrier will invite you & take you in and around their houses you will meet some kids & other family members, you may ask questions as much as you can. Later they will sing & dance their favorite songs which involves high jumping. If you wish you can join the dancing. Then you will be heading to the Naabi Hills gate for check into Serengeti. You can break for picnic lunch at Naabi Hills Gate or at the kopjes (Rocky outcropping) before heading to central Serengeti area called Seronera.

    Seronera is one of the richest wildlife habitat in the park endowed with Seronera River  the valuable water source in this area hence attracts a vast number of wildlife around the Serengeti. You will be looking for Great Wildebeest Migration {depending on travelling dates) & the big cats, you can also sport herds of buffalo, giraffe, elephant, warthog, topi, eland, hippos & many more. Late afternoon drive to Thorn Trees Camp in central Serengeti for dinner, campfire & overnight.

    Day 5.

    Full Day Game Drive in the vast Serengeti plains

    On this day as early as 06:30 with packed breakfast box & lunch box you will go for an early morning game drives in the vast Serengeti plains. Early morning game drive can allow you to spotting cat family on the road as they try to avoid morning mist. You may also expect to see other nocturnal predators coming back from their long night of hunting or a group of lioness organizing morning ambush or eating along the road after, you will break for breakfast somewhere in the bush.

    Serengeti National park is the scene of the Great Wildebeest Migration, so if they will be packed in Serengeti your safari driver guide will have already know so the early start will take you straight to where they are & spend much time with the herds in anticipation of see animal actions like hunting, eating, fighting even killing. You may also expect to spot other predators like leopard, hyena, cheetah & jackals. Herds of buffalo, elephant, giraffe warthog, zebra, many antelopes & birds can also be spotted wondering around Serengeti plains.

    Packed lunch can be served at the picnic site or somewhere in the bush after, lunch & some rest embark on your afternoon game drive & return back to your campsite before or during sunset for dinner & overnight.

    Day 6.

    Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

    Distance: 65 km 

    Non – game viewing time: 2 – 3 hrs.

    On this day start as early as 06:30 am with packed breakfast & lunch box for another early morning game drive in Serengeti before starting your way to Ngrongoro Conservation Area & descend over 600 meters high walls into the crater floor for a wonderful game drive. Ngorongoro Crater is referred by many as the 8th nature wonder of the world, the crater was formed some 3 million years ago due to some internal forces under the earth crust. It is a Caldera but mistakenly is called a Crater, supported by yearly round water supply & fodder, Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a big number of animal species, which include herds of wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, topi, hippos, eland, warthog, The rare Black Rhinos and Giant African elephant.

    Another big draw card to this unique Crater is the dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs & the ever- mysterious leopard, which sometimes need sharp eye to spot. You will drive to Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline Lake in the southwestern corner, occasionally visited by flamingos, hippos & many aquatic birds. Late afternoon drive out and to Bougainvillea Safari Lodge for dinner, campfire & overnight.

    Day 7.

    Full Day of Activity at Lake Manyara – Back to Arusha

    After spending days sitting in the car, on this day we take you for some physical activities guided by trained local guides. After breakfast at your lodge you will drive across the Great East African Rift Valley where you can have a brief stop for an excellent view of Lake Manyara & its forest from the edge of the rift Valley. Then you will drive down to Mto wa Mbu town located at the base of Great East African Rift Valley.

    Meet your biking guide & choose the bike before start biking through the village of Mto wa Mbu all the way to Lake Manyara, leave the bike at the Lake shore get into canoe & start pedaling around the Lake after about a half an hour return back to the shore & bike back to Mto wa Mbu town & to Mama Piniel Restaurant for delicious hot Local lunch. After lunch & some rest start you cultural tour around mto wa Mbu village, you will walk through local farms of banana, cassava, sugarcane etc, you will experience some of their social and economic activities, education issues etc.

    You will visit a local carving industry to learn how they do carving the wood they us, the designing etc. If you can engage in carving & polishing activity, after you will visit a painting group & learn how to paint guided an experienced painter.

    In the afternoon drive back to Arusha and to Ilboru Safari Lodge or Mtoni River Lodge for dinner & overnight.

    Day 8.

    Orphanage visit & a full Day Tour to Kikuletwa Hot Water Spring

    Distance: 75 km

    After breakfast at your lodge drive to Fruitful Orphanage close to Arusha city. Mingle with kids & if you wish to give them some gift you can do so (1 hour). After the visit, with start your way to Kikuletwa Hot Water Spring. Enjoy the Great views of the astounding Kilimanjaro Mountain then spend much time swimming in warm water & playing around. Then break for Lunch them more swimming & playing. Late afternoon drive to Mount Meru Game Lodge for dinner & overnight.
