Quick Overview

Climbing Kilimanjaro Cost That You Should Consider:-

How much does it cost to climb Mount Kilimanjaro? This is the obvious question asked frequently, bellow are some outlines of things to be put in consideration when planning your trip to Tanzania for Kilimanjaro trekking tours.

Flights – Getting to Kilimanjaro airport

This needs a significant amount on your total Kilimanjaro climbing cost however, it will depend on where you are.

We advice your arrival & departure  point to be at Kilimanjaro international airport (JRO) this will avoid extra cost for some domestic flights if arriving or departing at other airport. Many hikers with connecting flights fly to Amsterdam for KLM flights which fly straight to Kilimanjaro, some fly into Addis Ababa or Nairobi and then to Kilimanjaro.

Tanzanian Visa

Visa can be obtain at Tanzanian embassy in your country or at Kilimanjaro/Dar es Salaam international airport or at the border upon arrival however, Tanzania high commission advise to apply for visa prior arrival as they deserve the right to deny you a visa on arrival. We therefore, advice to apply & purchase your visa at Tanzanian embassy in your country before departure, this will avoid some inconveniences & queuing at the airport upon arrival. Cost for Tanzanian visa is $100 for American & Irish citizen non American & Irish is $50.

Medication & Vaccination

Most visitors will need yellow fever vaccination card to enter Tanzania the cost is not more than $100. You may also need some other vaccination like polio and others, some trekkers are taking malaria tabs but you don’t need them on Kilimanjaro as no mosquito surviving at the high altitude. For trekking you may use your doctors prescription but you may need some Acetazolamide (Diamox), pain killers as well as the first aid kit.
