Detailed Safari Itinerary: Affordable 3 Days Selous Safari (Nyerere National Park)

Day 01:

On this day you will take an early morning flight from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam (20 minutes) where you will meet your safari driver guide & depart for Selous Game Reserve (Nyerere National Park), the driving is on good tarmac road across many village & local farms all the way to Kibiti town. From Kibiti you will turn to right & drive to Nyerere National Park & to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for a quick check in.

At the lodge you can have hot lunch or packed lunch & drive to the Park for an afternoon game drive where you can expect to spot herds of African elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, warthog, giraffe, wildebeest, hippos, lion, leopard, cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles & if luck the rare wild dog. Late afternoon drive back to Selous Mapumziko Lodge for sunset watch, dinner, campfire & overnight.

• Overnight at Selous Mapumziko Lodge at the edge of Rufiji River.

Day 02:

After early breakfast or depart with packed breakfast & lunch box at 06:30 am for an early morning game drive which can allow you to spot cat family along the road as they try to avoid morning mist. You may also see other nocturnal predators coming back from their long night of hunting or a pride of lion eating along the road. In the afternoon you will break for lunch, after lunch & some rest start your afternoon game drive then en-route game drive toward your lodge.

At around 16:00 hrs we will take you for a breathtaking boat trip along Rufiji River where you can see hippos & crocodile up close. Lots of land & aquatic birds will be seen during this trip. During sunset return back to the river bank & back to the lodge for dinner, campfire & overnight.

Day 03:

At around 06:30 am leave the lodge for a guided nature walk, a bushman will take you along the village & along park boundary where you can spot some animal species like baboons, monkeys & others. He will tell you about their culture, their livelihood around the park & the experience with wild animals. Late morning return back to the lodge for full breakfast before starting your way back to Dar es salaam & drop off at your lodge for dinner & overnight (own account) or if flying back to Zanzibar or back home then drop off will be at Dar es international airport. (Please tell us where you would like to be dropped).
